Time vs Acting Opportunities

(1) she has not much of a 時間
(2) doing sheng, she does not has much opportunities ...
(3) she was told that it is unfair to some troupe members that I play both roles...In a way, I "snatch" their dan opportunities; and
(4) the dans woes are nothing compared to hers

Haha.. Mai dearie -

Your point (3) is a bit outdated liao yozzz. Dont think any of us now think that you are "snatching" our dan opportunities cos

(1) being dan in Kh is indeed stressful!
(2) being a dan needs a lot of $$;
(3) more and more of us began to realise that we need time for work, family and ourselves and hence cant offer too much time

Stress:
Leader is dan herself so she picks heavily on water sleeves and movements. Honeslty, i am happy that the dowry stresses are shared by two of us!

$$:
Haha... i always think that being dan is expensive cos needs to invest in lots of hairpieces and wigs etc. I used to be extremely vain - and spent a lot of time to design my role image and bought lots of hairpieces in order to look good. I am glad that i have became lazy in this area.

Time:
Actually just like you, i also lack time. My work and family need lots of my attention. And i am always falling sick. Need time for myself.

If the role is either u OR me, then i wont be able to skip practices when i am tied down with work. And neither could u go temple see show last week- right? And if the role is just u, or just me, then July we will have to act Fri, Sat pm, Sat night and Sun night 4 shows in a row....Ok if job is sin nang. But if cannot take leave then die lor. Sharing is gd if practices became too intense. Or shows became too packed. Or have lots of personal committments.

Talking about acting opportunities..

Yes, i have lots. BUT that was 3-4 years ago, not now lor.

Much of my time now are needed for opera admin and logistics.

But the problem is that people only select what they wish to remember!

In my instance, people only remember the good old days where i have acted lots?

Well, what about now when i acted lots of calefies and maids; and have lots of opera admin and logistics to handle?

My opera admin opportunities are much more than most of the members in the troupe ^^

Name it: pack costumes, arranging practices, arranging casts, dp translation, liasing shows with ccs, organisers,schools, raise funds, do accounts, arrange name cards, collect donations, make up classes, phototaking, arranging tickets and bai kim etc

Our woes are nothing compared to yours?

Haha...this is not a right statement to make!

No mention of woes doesnt mean no woes!

When my daddy was terribly sick, i have no problem finding replacements for my roles. But who offer to help in the logistic tasks? I ended up more busy than before cos many think that since i no need to act, i should have time to do things for them.

May i please ask that you guys refresh your memories with full + complete pictures ah?

Dot just envy or get unhappy at other people de good acting chances lah (esp when those were in the PAST! ). Must also look at other people de duties and responsibilities lor!

A few comments that work well with leader. Well, that is developed through many working opportunities. Who ever yearn for that can volunteer their services ah. Leader will be happy to receive extra hands and legs.

The point i want to make is: Dont just "envy" the end resut, look at the means to the end result.

Anyway, to emphaise again. Leader de top criteria for acting opportunities is TIME.

Those who think they can spare the time are free to approach leader for greater show opportunities. But just make sure you all can; and are willing to keep up to her demanding requirements once you have committed!

Yah - it had been ages since i last updated my blog !

What have i been busy with?

Many...

Top of the list - falling sick

Yes, i have been busying coughing and sneezing for the last 1.5 months and even until today, my voice is still hoarse.

Got this bad cough since i came back from taiwan in mid-feb; and it then translated to bad flu, sinus, chesty cough and lost of voice etc etc

I find it so hard to do things when one is sick.

Hard to focus on work cos office is airconditioned and bad for cough

Hard to practise opera as i had no voice

Hard to take care of my father as I was told to stay away from my father in case i pass my virus to him

Hard to do housework cos i had no engery

Sounds like excuses huh?

No lah - not trying to find excuses.

All my friends said that my body is terribly lacking of sleep and rest.

Indeed. My life has been too packed for the past decade. Time to slow down and breath properly.

11 Jan 09: small performance + dance full dress rehearsal

We had a small show at Boon Lay CC yday - its a chinese new year lunch program for the old folks. Besides us doing an opera excerpt, there were also singing and dance items.

Shu Qing asked for "18 xiang song". Original casts were karen, mx, sh and hm.
But karen, mx and sh have something on - so ended up the roles were played by hong, me, yue ai and hm:

Mx and sh asked me how was it. Haha ~ to me it was messy. Hong said can see my hands trembling. Cant help it - I felt leg-soft wearing the 3 inches xue, and the hall was opened space i cant hear the music very well...

Anyway, over liao...

We reached back kh abt 12noon. But cant go home cos we there is a full dress dance rehearsal for hong, jm and me at 5pm. Why only 3 of us? Cos teacher said we need to rush scene - scare we cant make it...

True enough, we were jamed at the last dance item : Lotus Dance. 3 of us took long time to change into the costumes, so i think we need helpers on the performer day -

But was asked to cancel leave to help on an urgent report...

Nevermind, i shall save this 2.5 days plus 5 hrs time off (24th) some other time.

Too bad cant take during chinese new year as one of my staff is going back to her home town and i have to be around.

KH celebrated its 50th anniversary at Qian Xi Restaurant (Payer Lenar) last Sunday.

We hosted a total of 85 tables and invited Dr Teo Ho Bin as our Guest of Honour.

Went dinner with my cashiers team at Novena just now. Mr Tay, Mrs Tan and Ng were there too - a nice catch up =)

Wanted to foot the bill cos this is the 1st time i meet the cashier team. - but Agnes insisted to pay...

Passed by Novena Church - So crowd! And vivocity was so packed with shoppers!

Christmas is just around the corner!

But how come i dot seem to feel the mood ah? Havnt buy any present too...

So many people taking short holiday.. but many in my dept are working v hard as well.

PG, Eve, Maggie worked til 2am yday - Chee Hwee and Ray stayed til almost 4am.
Thumbs up to them. I went off earlier at 11plus..

There is no D&D this year. But heard depts wil get some budget from HR to organise a its own year end event. Guess Finance would have to wait til Jan- when SI pack is completed and stat to gaap done...

Sleepy...Going sleep soon... tml morn going office for a while - then go cc help out.

Rest and Relax at Batam

Went for a 2D1N retreat at Batam with KH friends and some outside aunties 2 weeks ago.

It was quite a relaxing trip - just eat, shop, look see and spa..

My office had a little Halloween party 1-2 weeks ago.

We were told about the contest on Wed evening - most of us were not very keen as 31 Oct is our mth end closing.

However, after seeing the nice decoratives put up by our 2 social angels Christine and Angelia, a few of us decided to help boost the contest by dressing up a bit...

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another.

Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are.

After that we're frustrated that we have teen-agers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage.

We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice vacation, when we retire.

The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when?

Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway.

One of my favourite quotes from Alfred D'Souza. Ha said, "For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin—Real Life. But they was always some abstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were in my life."

This perspective has helped me see that there is no way to happiness. Hapiness is the way.

So, treasure every moment that you have. And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with… and remember that time waits for no one!!!

So Stop waiting until you finish school, until you go back to school, until you lose 10 pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, unitl you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until when???

Until you got no more chance to decide that there is no Better time than right now to be happy.

Happiness is a journey, not a destination.

I have been making these kinds of statements all my life...

Job will be better after i clear this, clear that, get more headcounts.

Opera will be better after i have mastered how to sing more soothingly.

I would have more security after i have saved up some money.

My health will be better after i have losed some weights.

My bosses will have better impressions after i have up my dressing and improved my grooming.

I would have more time for my parents and loved ones after i have settled my job problems....

I always say i will do this. Will do that.

But things are stil the same after 5 years, after 10 years, after 15 years.

.......................

There are always loads of things that can be better.

I always have a long list of things to do. Things i hope.

But the sad thing is we may not have chance to do what we really want to do - if we always keep waiting for things to be better 1st.

Yday was quite a big event for us!

Not bcos we staged a grand full length show - but bcos we went to 3 places to act - all in a day ~

I reached kh abt 1pm - late again... haiz... cos i worked late on Fri mah. Lucky leader was in OK mood so i didnt get scolding.

Sh reached shortly after me and guess wat? Her make up was all-done! She did her make up at home -)

As usual - i was one of the last ones to complete my make up and hair... something wrong right? The make up has already been simplied and my hair was also simple - and yet i was stil the last few ones. I thk i was busy kaypoing around....

Why so gloomy?

Saw some updates from mx, bbq and yn abt their assignments and busy schedules.

Msg AC and he also said bz - bz with school work.

Msg YH- busy with bro's accounts and work.

Msg BX - busy reporting to temple.

Office colleagues also complained very busy.

Latest heard is Sharon worked til 7am last week. And Sandra said she has been coming to office every sat and sun for weeks liao.

Looks like everyone is busy.

I am no exception... Work takes up my Mon-Fri- and Opera takes up 1.5 days of my weekend.

Not much time for myself and my family.

Wanted to treat myself to regular facial, massages, sliming, foot reflex but cant sustain due to heavy workload.

Thats still fine - cos those are for myself.

I am more guilty towards my family - havnt seen my parents for weeks. And i cant go NY with my hubb cos it crashes with my reporting deadlines. I cant recall when was the last time i watch movie with my hubby- and when was the last time i watched opera at home with my parents....

Lately i started to feel very stressed up - i seem to be deficiting in most areas:

- lots of backlogs at work - procastinating tasks which i dont like to do even though many of them can be cleared fast

- poor corporate image - lazy to make up and lazy to dress professionally

- cant sing - after 8 years stil cant sing properly

- family bonds - lack heavily

- social and friends - long time didnt meet up with people outside work and kh

- financial - no savings - how to survive when old?

- health - havnt been feeling too well lately - "tired ", "sleppy" and "xian" are words i use everday!

Mad right?

How can a person be so lacking in all areas?

May be its really due to my poor time management + silly habit + poor discipline.

And my poor ability to say no when comes to unreasonable requests from friends and colleagues.

I think i should put my family and myself 1st from now.

Little Show - 28 Aug 08

Took off yday cos i had an excerpt to act at night:

Performance place: Qian Xi restuarant at Civil Service Club (Farrer ParK)

Event : Zhong Yuan celebration dinner

Time: 830pm

Program :

Butterfly dance (xz + hong)

Romance in the rain (xj + hong)

I felt it had been ages that i took off - haha - may be too tied down with work lately ba _@@_

Reached kh at 2pm - xz and hong were ironing the costumes and practising their butterfly dance in the new costumes.

This butterfly couple costumes were made for our intended Liang Zhu show at Esplande next year. I find them quite nice - esp the female de - cos the pink is sweet and bright.

Oh yeh, i started my make up abt 4pm yday- and finished make up + hair + dinner at 615pm - didnt get scolding this round cos i didnt "mo gu" - haha

Btw, just to mention... Sh asked me which hairpc i used. Well, i used Kh that blue hat.

Xz was surprised when she saw me laid the hairpc on the table. She asked me how come i am using that. Haha.... I replied her "huh? i cant use kh de hairpc meh?".....

Today is a lazy day for me...

Supposed to guai guai stayed in hotel to do some office stuff. But scared hubby bored or upset- so decided to give work a break and went jalan jalan instead!

Can only company him today cos Mon-Fri i am likely to be occupied with work.... (pai say la Chris - next time then we go for proper tour k, at least a cruise or wat lor)

Anyway, went shopping at causeway bay and bought many types of packet mees from sogo and 7-11 ~ haha ~

This is my "work" area... 2 note book cos i belong to my hubb (thank u chris for buying the number pad for me, knowing that i am not used to using the horizontal number key).

Bought a comfort shoes - i forgot to bring one when i was here - luggage full of files.Haha, anyway HK has many many nice shoes. i hope i got time to buy a few more!

Oh yes, mookcake! The festive has not arrived but i cant resist buying!

...Oki, going dinner with Sandra now. She just checked in - and we are going to our "fav" da jia le to eat~

Its me ~ from HK!

Today is my 5th day in HK lar.

Past 4 days have been verybery bz...

Hmmm... a short recap la:

Day 1 Tues 5 Aug
My flight was 315pm - but i was stil in office at 215pm!
Haha - luckily Sandra asked me to e-check and self print the e-boarding pass else sure late.
Reached HK at 730pm - this is the 1st time i go on bz trip alone - some of my colleagues came earlier and another 1 coming tml.
Told myself last year that shd i go HK again - i want to be able to speak cantonese - ended up, stil cant....

Day2 Wed 6 Aug
Woke up very early - ate buffet breakfast at hotel and happily went to work. On my way there (5 mins walk from hotel) - i was wondering why there was so single soul on the road - not even vehicles - and the winds was so strong that i came moving backwards..

Then when i reached my office building, the security guard gave me a stare and asked me to go home immediately - only then i realised that Hk had declared typhoon number 8 signal on that day and all offices are closed!

Gosh - haha... no wonder....

Anyway, i quickly ran back to my hotel though it was raining heavily. Heard that some places de roof tops and gates etc were blown off by the strong winds - and some vehicles also got turned over. Told my hubb I that i didnt know that typhoon is taken seriously in Hk. He said i mountain tortist didnt read papers.. ehh...

Anyway, though i didnt go office, i spent almost whole day in hotel typing my repts (and watching shows of cos)

Day 3 Thus 7 Aug
My official 1st day of work at HK...
Left office at close to midnight lor - as i had to look at both testings and an annual reportings lor. Lucky hotel is just 5 mins walk away.

Day 4 Fri 8 Aug
So sad - left office close to mid night again. Wanted to go chiong kate spate with my colleagues de cos got 50 % sale - but was stuck with some mthly reports..... On my way home, rec'd a msg fr SH that she just came back fr KTV ! Shit - how i wished i could be around - it was KH opera troupe's 22nd bday lor!
8 aug 08 was also my Finance dept's outing at the Flyers. Free tickets were given to staff and families to take a ride at the Flyers - missed that too!

Day 5 Sat 9 Aug
Today is a good day cos my hubb came to HK today. I went to airport to fetch him at 530pm via airport express train. and i brough him walked around the hotel area just now. I think he is gona to be sad cos tml i had to polish up some numbers in my report. And at night i am going out with sandra to chiong bags... ehh...

My colleagues have bought many items and that left me very jealous lor cos so far i only got a pair of shoes. tml lar - i want to get 2-3 bags, shoes and some clothings... and accessories =) heee

HK trip :5 to 16th Aug 08

I thot i just blogged abt my HK trip and i have to fly tml liao.

Going to bring my luggage to office tml - still got some work pending + need to pack some notes, take some files etc before i can go to the airport.

Feel so rush this round - so many o/s work -
- ingen testing
- follow up on roc
- do 1-2 ul mthly report
- review mid year fund report
- prepare 2006 brunei's comparatives and notes
- brunie fx
- ul cash flow...

So many -(

Lucky shirley, pg, angel, sharon etc helped a lot on ROC. Lucky angel is independent now. Else would be even more stressed.

Promised my HK counterpart that i will work full time on ingen during my 8 working days there.

Yes, must do that.

Honestly I am very tired of being chased by people - stressed and bad reputation - not that i wanted - but there was no backfil of my post when i was asked to cover this. So cant cope lor.

Anyway, next 2 weeks is super-work week for me. And sandra. i think we would be tesitng in morn, and then working on other o/s reports in the night...... i must try to do as much when i am there - cos when i come back from hk... i got to spend time on my sept shows and family.

Guess got to give shopping a miss liao !

Actually there is a show on 20 Sep ~ kh staging Miles at Chong Pang CC and i am supposed to act the match maker.

But Xz said she is Ok to let me go so long as i can find replacement. So i quickly pestered ah huay for days and she finally confirmed that can help with the match maker role on 20 Sep - Phew !

I am happy that ah huay can help act this role - cos she has acted this role for 3-4 times liao so she only needs to recap and she will be Ok liao!

I have practised this role for 2-3 times so far. Intend to hands off the practices for this role in the coming 2 mths . I shall work on it after 20 Sep - cos there is another Miles on 20 Dec- and that would be done by me ~ hee hee!

Back to New York - guess what?

Air fare (SQ) alone is $2650!

Actually i am veyr "reluctant" to pay cos $2650 can buy 2 LV bags, or 3 gucci bags!

But now think think - shd company hubb la - anyway he said he is paying for my airfare and accommodation so Oki lor.....

If only he also sponsor my shopping ~ hahah...

Oh ya.. may be i shd ask my bosses - see if they have any thing i can help do in new york office - so that i can save on the airfare + leave?

We did 2 dances + 1 opera excerpt at the suntec city yday - part of the events under Heriatge Fest 2008.

As its a weekday again , only a handful were involved:

1) Butterfly lover dance - Hong and Rentong

2) Da Jin Zhi - Hong , Sh and me

3) Mongolian Dance - Rentong

Helpers: xz, ah huay, lpj

AC and wife were there too.

I took half day offyday - "expensive" off just for the maid role...haha

When i reached abt 3pm, sh has already laid foundation on her face.

Rentong did her own make up- while our princess linda 's make up was done by hong - hong finished SH de make up in 0.5 hr ~ superb speed!

As usual - i was last to complete - ehhmm - cos i came last mah.. plus help sh did her hair... Haha - talking abt hair - sh was really cute - when hong and xz stared at all the hairpcs that she has laid on her table - they immediately gave her that look and asked if she really intend to put all of them on her hair - and guess what? Our princess replied sweetly "Of course lah, i want to be the most SONG de princess, otherwise i would be too far off from my Ou Xiang you know!"

Hahah... i like the way she said that !

I also like to be super SONG - but my temper doesnt allow me from sai nai to leader and hong in this manner lor. I wish i can handle people in this manner - very useful in corporate world -) Now then i know why our princess is in customer services - it take some quality to be one!

Today we had our "annual" show at the dou tian temple.

Its "annual" cos we only perform once a year at si dou tian zhun's birthday: 14 of lunar june.

We have acted in the temple for 5 years already.. i think.

This year, tian zhun's bday happens to be on weekday - and hence only a handful were involved:

Emperor - lpj

Empress: jm

Official: Yue ai

Enuch: xu wen

Fairly/ maid: xj

Xu wen was supposed to be a official also. but he last min changed himself to Enuch as he felt that its funny for Official to summon dancers etc...

Well - actually bo bian leh - cos today is weekday.. so we only had 1 person each for offical, Enuch, palace maid and fairy.. haha... quite qi liang !

Today all of we use the new make up.. except lpj who stil have some blue on her eyes. I think Jm did a nice job to her face today. Actually, jm got very nice features.

YA nad Xw are very fast handed- they came abt 4pm but all done at 530pm. I started 3pm. But last to complete... actually its bcos i helped Jm do hair today mah... haha, jm said she like the way i do her hair cos very secured and i add studs, side accessories etc... Of cos mah - i am hair STYRist u know..

TPCC - 13 July 08

Yday was a super early day for many of us.

Cos we had a show at TPCC yday and xz asked us to reach kh/tpcc early to fix the props etc.

Hong, huay, yn, yue ai, wmy , hui mei and tiam went to kh at abt 10am to transport the items ; while me and sh were asked to be at tpcc at 11am to receive the items.

I met sh at 1030am to take breakfast. I took sausage muffin and harsh brown! Happy cos i long time didnt eat these liao... Crazy sh bought all her hair accesories to tpcc. She said those are for her coming shows. Well, i think those are enough to tie her thru 2nd half of the year + next year even lor! She is now the top hair accessories dan in kh lor - hee.

By the time we put down all the props and stuff - guess wat? It was lunch time - and i was asked to go buy lunch for every one! Thanks to ah huay etc lor - said i never buy makan for kh people.. anyway i dont mind - cos i can take the opport to walk walk - look see look see.....

Anyway, my "ren yan" was good - ah mei and yue ai both said offered to go with me, so 3 of us went for a mini shopping trip at 201 market!

We came back 1 hour later with :

- 12 eye shadows colors for our recently acquired new make up

- white stocking for dancing * 3

- white leggings and tights * 3

- ready made eye lid sticker * 4

- vege bee hoon * 6

- rice * 2

- cooling tea *5

- drinks * 6

hee...

But guess wat?

........ I forgot to take chop sticks for the bee hoon - so all of us had to eat with our bare hands!!!!!!
U shd see the way ah ai eat - very pro! Ah huay ki xiao - she took out the propos from soya and used it to eat! hahha. As usual, our pretty linda refused to be in the pic cos her make up was 10% done only. Anyway, we had big laughs at the makan table -)

AC has blogged...... Yes, it has been 2 years since we last acted it !

Must kowtao to AC. He only came for practices on wed and thus ( 2 days b4 the show ) and he was able to delivered the show successfully ~

See some pictures la - pics of our newly learnt make up. Most of us didnt draw well - cos it was our 1st official try - So we shall forgive ourselves this round - and aim to draw better the next round k!

Our lead of the day - Mr Su Yi - a kind hearted teacher.

Wmy as the helpful little boy as MX cant act (mx cant act on weekday). Wmy look so "girl" in this china wig (oopss)... But wmy look nicer in this make up as compared to tw de.

Yue Ai as Mrs Su. Her 1st scene de make up was a disaster - too red. We quickly pulled her to correct it when she hit the backstage.

Me as the poor thing women who wanted to drown herself cos her hubby didnt return for 1 year....

Actually I wanted to keep some hair at 2 sides cos my face is very thin - so i need some "cover-up" but they said cannot - cos i am a married women... =(

Funny, my eye lashes look so short and flat - not curly....

My hubby finally came back... and i used the 12 taels from Mr Su yi to buy myself 1 new costume and some nice hairpcs -)

JM actually look nice in the new make up- but i dot have a nice pic of her.... This is the 1st time she complete a full make up on her own !

Overall - this is a well-liked show. And i like my role though i only have very little show appearance. But once again, i didnt do well.

Without fail, i didnt sing properly, didnt act well, and didnt move well. The only "Ok" thing i heard is from mx that my make up looked OK on stage

....haiz.... shall i blame it on my hectic work schedule or the un-talented me?

We acting this show again in end july again.

Xz asked yue ai and me to re pack the costumes - dont wear the same ~ cos audience will see until xian.

Any suggestions? She said its OK to wear more glam - so long as all the cast glam proportionally accordingly to the roles. Let me know lah!

My 1st Match-maker role ~

Today i practiced my match-maker role for the 1st time.

Expected ~ very jia lark.

So jia lark until jm, lpj, ah huay came to tell me how to walk, how to shake backside etc! Shit, even hong walked better than me!

Ehh.. all said that i have acted qing yi for too long so too hua dan ~ said i cannot walk chui steps for this role and cannot have lan hua finger etc etc ...... ehhh why so troublesome ah?!

After seeing me in such bad shape, Huay even joked that she better take back the role, haha.

Lucky this role only appear in 1 scene.. and this show (miles) wld only be staged in sept - so i stil have somne time to catch up.

Xz demo the role to and she really look very funny and 38 ~ hope i can steal some feel from her!

Oh yeah.....

Tml i am going to take zhao xing of this role. .haha - i will post the pics if my make up is not too ugly k!

We have started to learn yue ji make up from hui xuan teacher last week and would be continuing tml. But teacher said my make up cant make it - so i dont know i will look scary tml or not.

Busy with audit, system testing, new funds launches, review service agreements, update database, regular reports......

Actually I wanted to take a break since apr - but this thing just kept postponing. Really hope i can go for a holiday soon... see amai, bx, bbq etc go holiday i so envy lor! but have a few list of tasks lining up for next week, the week after, next month leh...

Hmmm...... guess got to tong for a while more and see how.. hope my immediate boss's position would be filled soon... hope i can find a gd ctt staff next week... hope the new br accountant quickly pick up the regulars... hope my boss recruite more new headcounts....hope HR revisit and review my pay......hahha

Seems like all the negative stuff? Hm.....one plus! I am going to submit 3 mths of meal allowances next mth - that shd be enough to upgrade my wallet, replace my rusty handphone and color my hair. hee,...

Thk i have only been to kh 3 times since the last perf on 12 May 08 - haha - 3 times in 5 weeks ! cos i was busy with work + felt sick for many weeks + happened to have family events on 2 - 3 weekends.

We have a show next Fri - we would be acting 3 jia fu at TPCC - but sucks, my voice has still not recovered - stil hoarse. i think i am stuck with 100 days cough leh - who got secret recipe to offer ah?

Busy + High staff turnover

Yeah.. i know. Long time didnt blog.

Mk complained my blog got spider web... haha.. yeah, i noticed that !

Really busy lar - busy with work that i dont have time for myself, my family and my opera

The turnover rate in my dept has never been so high.

Feb 07- May 08 ....16 months... and we have 13 resignations - almost 1 a month !

Why ah?

Mixture of reasons...
Some said work is getting more stressful each day.
Some said pay didnt increase in proportion to work.
Some wanted to focus on family.
Some said better opening...

Hmmm... i agree that work is getting more tough these days.

My idol said work is the same everywhere... Its the people that will make a difference to our life. Agree also lah.

But if pay is so low as compared to new comer, or too low as compared to market's rate... then its understandable that staff will feel down and pek chey right ?

On the other hand, there are people who are happy here of course. Eg sandra ! Must kowtao to her. She worked 6 days OT a week for such a long period - but yet stil didnt fall sick ... we say she must have got lot of job satisfaction from her work.

Too bad I dont have her this type of healthy body lor.. i only have worked 2 mths of 5-days overtime per week and i am now down with cough and flu.... haha...

Anyway, hope things would be better in 2nd half of the year la!

1) Ah Hong

Usually does leads - but also got do some lao shengs and calefie. Her recent calefie is wmy de soldier in Jade. Wmy said she felt a bit odd ~ haha! Oh ya, she has also done 1 time lao Dan (Song palace) and 1 time San hua (3 feng). Regular partner is xz and me .....

2) Mai

Our most versatilte sheng - from scholars (3 feng, fish), to wawa shengs (3 jia, soya), to lao sheng (ytc), and to hua dan (lz, blood shed). Of cos got do maids and soldiers also la. Her regular partner used to be me.. now is yani lah

3) Wmy

Our most "Man" and "Cool" Sheng. Top student in our dance class also lor! I find breakthru role of her is the diao guan jia... many said very good! Her regular partner is me and hui mei.

Performance at Old Folks Home - 13 Apr 08

Last Sun afternoon we had a little show at an Old Folks Home at Woodlands.

Show: Da Jin Zhi

Casts: Karen as consort, JM as princess, me as palace maid

Helpers: Wmy and Yn

Source of show : Ah Hiang, an ex - KH member

It was a super quiet afternoon.... JM was the 1st to reach, followed by Karen then me.

No one else was at the kh cos leader went for her exams, and there was no other practices on that day.

So 3 of us + wmy and yn (they came at 245pm) went to the home with ah hiang at 3pm and returned to kh abt 430pm.

The bus driver was so kind. He was supposed to just bring us to the Home. But he fetched us back as well - so we saved on transport.

The show went on pretty smoothly... except that there was only 1 clip mike so Karen had to sing with her DAN DIAN~ poor kaley!

Dance class......

After 2 -3 mths of hectic practices and shows, we finally resumed our basic dance class today.

I think many didnt expect that the dance class wld be resumed so soon- so most of the KHers didnt come today.

KH side only hong, mx and me attended the class.

3 of us were called back to practise bridge 2d. But Leader wasnt in, and i was late - so we ended up stretching, eating and chatting instead.

I think 3 of us are expecting full body aches tml - esp mx - cos she has not been attending class for at least half a year liao. Hong and me ust had our dance performance 2-3 weeks ago. So our conditions shd be better. But still, achings are expected as we are no longer young.

Mx commented that my basic flex has improved since mths ago. But a pity i cant apply the flex onto my dancing.

Well.....no choice i guess... cos i am really not cut to dance.

Opera and opera admin have already taken a lot of my time. So I dont thk i can afford any spare time and space in my heart for dance.

But I dont mind to dance a piece or 2 once in a while... just for fun =)

Yeh - i finally blog again. Ihave not been blogging as i was super busy in the past 2 mths.

For the past 2 mths, i think my life was just WORK, KH, HOME.

Feb and Mar happened to be my office's year end audit peak period.

But its also KH's peak performance period.

So i was like Mon, Wed, Fri OT; Tues, Thus, Sat KH opera. Sunday housework + Kh dance.... Scary right? hahah.......

But nevermind lar... Cos its rest time now... We have completed all our scheduled 9 shows. and the next one is in May.... So can take a break liao... Can continue my jap and korea show.

I am watching Nodame Cantabile now. I like it. The lead quite good looking. And the story line is quite good too.... i think i very mad....always cant resist drama.... can watch until no light no night....

Yes... it has been 1 mth since my ex FC boss has retired.....

Early retirement....

Emailed him two weeks ago... He said now he only needs to think what to eat everyday- no need to think about all the deadlines anymore...

So envy... How i wish i dont have to work... but thats not possible lar.. i cant do without a job...i need income...

Mr Tay is really a very very nice boss.. You hardly see any FC like him - no air - humourous -hands on.

One thing i like about my current job is the people -good bosses and good gangs of colleagues.

If there is anything i am unhappy about - its the super high amount of adhoc work and the below-average pay.

Else its really not bad a place to stay long .... Haiz...

CNY mood is on the air - but i didnt managed to buy much things leh.

May be too crowd.. May be still a bit unwell so very xian to shop...

Talking abt unwell, many people fall sick lately...

My office's colleagues are MC one after the other. I was also given 2 days mc last week due to fever and flu.

Kh side - top in the list is mx, sh, yn....

Hopefully the new year will bless everyone with good health =)

Our on part, make sure we have enough sleep, drink more water and relax k!

Cos stresses and late nightes are top causes for falling sick hor.

I recalled mx teased me some weeks ago for still going strong..

Not true lar ~i have been having quite a number of headaches recently.

I think there is something wrong with my current life leh - too occupied with work, with opera, and with many things.

I think i am too greedy le. I want to do well in work, i want to have many hairpcs, i want to be close with friends and colleagues, i want to attend opera practices, i want to learn dancing, i want to watch korea shows, i want to be up to date.. i want so many things.

But ended up... i am so tired and so stressed.

Thats not actually wat i really want leh. I actaully want a well-balanced and yet relaxed life - afterall life is short - why make it so tensed everyday?

Sh - pai say ah - steal some pictures from your blog to show my colleagues.....

1) Snake Dance

This is one of the dance which i would be dancing in this coming Mar.

There are 5 charactors in this dance : white snake, green snake, scholar, birdy and immortal.

Though this is only a 5 mins dance item - but we took 2 mths to learn this lor.. cos most of us have no dancing background so it took us very long to pick up the actions let alone doing them nicely lor...

I enjoy this dance a lot though i dont do it well.

The hardest actions for me in dance item are 1 leg split and kicking. Actually I have been trying to split for a few mths liao leh - but body too stiff ~ no guess when the time comes, just got to take cover...

2) Hong Chou Dance

I like this dance also. Actually it was a group dance ~ and all of a sudden, teacher asked me and yue ai to dance in one of the slots. I dont mind the dance but i cant stand the costume cos i look danm fat in it! Got to drop 2 - 3 kgs to look better in this Eh....

Karen said she cant stand the flower - haha.... oki lar - i will change that to normal hairpc....

3) Sword Dance

I was supposed to be in this too... But got drop from the list - cos i cant attend the class...

Think most of my friends have given up on my blog~ cos it had been ages since i last blogged =p

Pay say..... Was really too tight up with work in the past few mths.

Hope to see improvment in my work in 2008 - this is one of my new year resolutions lor. More important ones include strengthening closeness with my loved ones... my friends... keep fit.... improve my singing.... save some $... maintain outlook....

I think i am damm aunty now lor - work and work....wear sloppy, face haggard, hair messy, look like huang lian po .. fat and ugly..... ehhhh.....

Oh ya.. this year de lucky color is orange, white and gold! not so good is black and blue!

Gosh, blue black is my fav color....

630am met bx and troupe at airport.... reached hotel at 2plus..... sent wigs to wash.... met feng.... went qi ye restuarant dinner with ylh... collect things....

Free and easy morn.. went to dan shui to buy cookies ... went chong jin to buy some make up items.. watched YLH's show....

Day 3(Fri)
Free and easy shopping.... supposed to go gx see cst and hairpc but changed last minute... so some went to watch SCF show instead...

Day 4(Sat)
Went to collect wigs and pastries... then pack luggage....

...Overweight..... Came with a empty Large luggage.. But went back with fully compressed large luggage, 1 china bag and 1 big hand carrier..... haha...

Mid Autumn Best-decorated dept competition

My company had a mini-competition last Tues..... best decorated dept who fits the mid-autumn festival theme.

My new big boss asked us try to win and make an impact....

We also want la... but time so short.. so this is the best we could do then....

The props look familar right ? Yeah - taken from kh de - the zither, the stool, the stones, the fences, the wine jar, the bow....

Special thanks to leader for lending out the props - i think this added lots of point for the garden setting.

Thanks to wmy and sh for helping me to bring these to my office and help carry back =)

Thanks for my colleague Mersy for company me to kh on Mon night to carry some of these things too..

Thats my colleagues Mersy and Elena dressing up as Chang er and Hou yi... i think my red white cst still look nice.. match well with the hou yi cst i lent from kh =)

Yday was a"hectic" day for me....

Supposed to go kh pack cst for 5D, followed by office BBQ and watch show at Bukit Batok.. But in the end didnt managed to watch show cos i overslept until 1 pm.. and packing overshot by 2 hrs...

Mid-antumn festival

Mid-autumn festival has always been one of my fav festival - cos i really like to eat moon cake alot! And i always eat until fat and heaty and ugly (cos too heaty - acne) - but no regrets la.

I used to like just white lotus and yoke.. but now a dyas i also like durian, mocha, baileys etc.

This year i brought one box of Raffles mocha+champagin mini to Kh. Initailly thot of bringing goodwood and martiott durian - but changed my mind cos Karen, wmy and linda will off. And besides, Mx like mocha and champagin =)

Look at this..... Six Yoke moon cake! From East Ocean... Guess how much? $31 for one PIECE! My boss gave me this. He knows i like 6-yoke de moon cake.. haha... thats explain why i so fat lor. Keep eating and eating fat and heaty stuff how to slim down and look good right? Hiaz....

After this festival k... after this i wil go on serious diet!

Cycling - 2nd Sept 07

Yh, yp, wmy and me finally met for cycling today =)

We used to cycle at night.. but have not done that for a long time due to everyone de busy schedule. At the last fish & co gathering, we decided that its time for us to cycle again... so here we are today =D

Xm and Ab are supposed to join us today .. but they cant make it the last minute. Anyway, 4 of us decided to go despite raining......

I was the 1st to reach... hahah ... finally being the 1st to reach! I was the last to reach for the past 2 gatherings cos they were scheduled on weekday and i was stuck with work.

YH thot the today has been cancelled. Initially we thot YP must have used too many broken english and caused YH to mistaken. Then wmy retrieved the msg and we realised that it was YH whose "reading" standard was poor lor...... Opss... no wonder people sa Accountants are good at figures but lousy with ABC.... YH - congrats for passing the ACCA!!! Me and YP waiting for your treat - thanks hor.

Wmy finally finished her 3E project ! Really happy for her cos she sufferred a lot from this course. Wmy - must go and register patent for the project lor...And not to forget... Me and YP waiting for your treat also.. hee

1) Before the makan ..........

Yes, thats Karen and me vacuming the floor using the super-efficient rainbow cleaner. This Kaley very superb lor - she can actually vacum with her sunglasses on! Hahaa.... Can see the dirt meh???

Not sure if i heard correctly, I think top made comments.... something like "dot just pose pose, action action, shd come every day/week to vacum..." Mad or what, i dot think she herself help xz vacum everyday lor.

Thats wmy - carrying mineral water i think. Wow lieu.. Carry things also must pose until so stylo ?!

Thats top and Zi Liang, our music teacher. Top was supposed to have her singing lesson at 6pm. But she was unable to proceed cos our vacum cleaner was too noisy....(too bad lor).

Lately ZL has been very busy "A-ying" for us to sing. I forgot to take picture of the singing session.. All fully booked de. I very kind lor. I "chop" a slot for karen and mx next week...hee

Talking abt singing - our pretty linda and little sunshine very "buay zi dong" yday night lor. After the makan session, they still hook to zi liang to practise their songs. Whole world waiting for them to go drink tea lor. Plus Zi Ling has been "A-Ying" since 2pm lor...

Linda, wmy, karen and sunshine were in charge of otah, hotdog and satay. Haha...they scare people dot know that they are 1-team de lor - so they planned their attire in advance - black and white!

See the " hao lian" face on wmy de face ma? Cos she fried those hotdog with the help from her Mummy lor!

Here's the 4th member of yday's gangster team! Being a new member, can see that she has less "Mo Qi" with them lor. Cos Karen, wmy and linda all worn black top with white bottom - only she wear the opposite way lor... Nevermind - add oil!

YP msg some days ago - asked whether want to meet up or not.

After some discussion, we finally agreed on today. Supposed to have ab, hl etc but they cant make it. So only YP, YH, WMY and ME.

We went to Fish and Co for dinner.. then to Kbox to sing....

Hee Hee.. See the ballon toys on our hands? Very cute right?!!!

My pinkish pig is for my little piglet of course. But its so many many times her size leh.. haha... I think she can sit on this ballonish toy...

Our singer for the night is YP lor. She is really crazy abt SHE.. and has gotten more and more 38(oppss)... Just like me.. hehee

While walking towards Paradise centre, we saw some people cyclying.. That reminded us of the a stage where 4 of us cycle over night at East Coast .... on every Wed night....

Woww...... Missed those days man. We said we shall go night cyclying again when WMY finished her project. Yes, YH - i will try to block out my time lar....

P&G Dinner & Dance - HK Cafe - 28 July 2007

Opss.. Sorry sorry - still on this event - cos i got some makan pictures wana share.... bear with me ok....

..... Oh yes, Karen, wmy and me left SH boss de house at abt 8pm.

At first i was thinking of giving KH a miss - but was afraid that people may have things to say..

So i decided to rush to KH.

Karen and wmy were not scheduled for that day - but they decided to pop by KH too.

We reached abt 9pm via taxi. I went up 1st as i had scenes; while Karen and wmy went to buy dinner.

After the practices, we decided to go for a coffee/tea at the new Xin Wang HK Cafe at Koven while waiting for SH to see if she needs help to unpack the costumes etc

(SH - see we so kind.. hahah, touched ma? )

This was the 1st time 3 of us ate at the HK Cafe - and we must say that the food is cheap and nice lor - not only that - the "waiter" was extremely helpful !

Karen was very pleased with this place that she even arranged the table items nicely for me to take picture..

P&G Dinner & Dance - 28 July 2007 (Part 3)

Yes!! Sh de team won 2nd in the night's performance!! Tell you - they are really not bad!!!

In fact we think that they are better than the the winning team - but dot know why only got 2nd.

Haha...., After watching their show, karen, wmy and me all concluded that SH can be very Ye Tai - haha......

SH and me like the Kids best - cos they are very natural in the movements!

After this event, Karen said we can now make up at 530pm rather than at 1pm...... I think we are very proud of our "accomplishments"!

I think we (esp me) like to take our own sweet time to do our hair and make up. If time is critical, i think actually many of us can do our make up and hair quite fast de.......

It has been 1 week after the event - but SH is stil very excited.

Indeed lor! Cos it was really fun! It was a nice experience helping Sh on this... MUst thank Sh for giving us the chance to play with this.. I think SH enjoyed the event lots - can she that she has LOTs and LOTs of fun!!!

(ehemmmm ... of cos enjoy lor - grand entrance ... grand finale for SH ... walking from aisle to stage .. like mega star !! .. Heee )

Made me remember something abt my Office's fire dril exercise.

Some years ago, my office declared that there would be a fire drill soon.

Then Colleague A said she is going to "take lift". Then Colleague B immediately asked why is there a need to make such a big "sacrify"...... All of us were so puzzelled.....

Finally we realised that Colleague B thought that Colleague A is going to "Take LEAVE " to siam the fire drill ....

P&G Dinner & Dance - 28 July 2007 (Part 2)

Finally the participants reached the boss's house at abt 530pm. SH quickly rushed them to bath - cos we only had 2 hours to complete 9 faces and hair - ie 20 mins each lor!

This SH sotong lor - asked her help take some pictures but she hor...set her camera at the wrong mode and many of pics went blur.

Yeah... thats me...gGetting ready.. laying out all the half wigs, buns and hairpcs etc. Ehhh KAren....i think your "preparation" picture could be super blur - thats why SH didnt email to me...

P&G Dinner & Dance - 28 July 2007 (Part 1)

Last Sat Karen, wmy and me went to help SH & her colleagues in their annual D&D.

That was our 1st and very 1st "Freelance Job" together.. haha....

Karen's job was to do make up for 10 faces.... My job was to comb their hair....

Wmy leh?

Haha.. She very poor thing lor - we kept teasing her as our bell-boy for that day... Of cos that was joking lah - her job was actually to make sure that their images fit the roles that they were projecting, wear their costumes etc =)

The preparation work was actually quite intense on SH's part. My office olleagues had just suggested to do opera for my company's this year D&D .... After seeing the amount of work that SH had to do... i am having 2nd thots now .. haha

No joke lor - let me list down for u - in case u are keen to do one also lor

1) Come out with concept
2) Make music
3) Choreo the dance / show item
4) Practise.. practise .. and practise
5) Lend / rent costumes
6) Lend collars, cai yi, cai ku etc
7) Bring / lend lots of wigs, buns, hair accessories and hair pieces
8) Find some one who can make up very fast and very nice
9) Find some one who can help keep here keep there
......

Scary right? Must really congrats Sh for her well-coordination of the program for her dept! Can see that her colleagues leave it entirly to SH to plan the program and decide on the details.

When we went to SH's house in the late afternoon, her mummy said ma chiam it was SH's big day and we were her invited wedding jie mei... haha....

Let me recall what happened that day (the problem of not blogging earlier - forget liao)

1) I reached SH's house abt 4pm. When i reached, Sh de make up was already done by Karen liao, and the 3 of them were watching Ye Qing's kong ming san qi Zhou Yu and eating bee hoon... They rushed me to gobble down the super delicious Bee Hoon cos i havnt pack my stuff yet. Aiya.. my dept no need to start operation so early mah....

2) We left Sh 's house at abt 430pm - with many big bags and small bags.... As usual - wmy rushed to carry the heaviest bags - and Karen and me were more than happy by her offer... cos we were wearing heels lor while she was wearing track shoes =p

3) We actually targetted to reach SH boss de house at 5pm - but alas - cant get taxi and we only managed to reach at 530pm.

But Heng lor - the particpants have not reached the place yet - cos they were stil at the games competition. So we quickly lay down our equipments and stuff ....
P&G de D&D is very fun lor. Morning to afternoon is field competition ; followed by stage competition at night.

SH de team was real SUPERB - they came in FIRST for the field competition lor - out of 15+ teams ! I think its bcos SH didnt take part lar - i think if SH have taken part - may be she will pull the whole team down. haha....... =p

Temple Dance - 27 July 2007

Yeah, we finally did our 10-min dance today.

Though it was only a 10-minute item, but all of us had to take at least half day leave as our schedule was at 530pm.

Actually i have applied for half day, but only managed to reach kh at 3pm as i had to clear one urgent email before i could leave.....

Then expected lor.. last to complete the make up and hairdo and was scolded. To make things worst, JM wrongly took my "chou" and i was scolded again. Said if i have been earlier, then this thing wont happen. Mad or what. people took my thing wrongly and it became my fault?

Funny lor... i think some people are just targetting me lor. When we came back to kh, i was the last one to remove the costume cos my hair was stuck. Expectedly, i kena suan again.

But yet after i have cleaned my face and all ready to go - i noticed that ah ai was still not done with her face and still packing her things. But yet the same set of people didnt say anything. Eh... what the hell...

Other than the above, the actual dance and waiting at the temple was ok lar...

Mx came over at 3pm to help some make up and cst wearing, but she didnt follow us to the temple as her mum didnt allowed that. Yani came to the temple at 6plus close to 7pm. Xz had assigned 1 helper each to 1 fairy so the changing props portion was quite well-handled.

Hee.... I like these pictures. I think most of us are very relaxed after performances.

Training at Hong Kong _ Play !

I think i know why all of us enjoyed the trip so much !

Though "officially" this is a serious training, our main purpose was actually to go there to shop ^^

I went to kh again 2d - to practise dance item for 27 July 07.

Heard there would be 4 mikes now. So xz said all of us will get to sing. But i think we still need mx and yani to help OS. cos its actually quite "chuan" singing and dancing at the same time.

I went to kh yday too - yani jio me practise 5d de scene 2. Both of us like scene 2 de movements. But both of us did until very ugly.... Nevermind, we stil have 5 mths before we need to put it to stage =p

My hubby said i am very "hard working" this week - go kh twice on weekday...

Haha... cos i am going to Hk soon mah.... and would only be back at kh on next sunday - which means that i would be off from kh for 10 days lor... wowo......

Diet

Mx mentioned in her latest entry that she dot like to go on diet.

Haha... i also dot like.

Actually in my 6 years plus in kh, i was always the "thin and slim" one. But ever since 1 year ago when i started to become closer with my colleagues - i became fat liao. We will call KFC, pizza, BK etc to eat when we work overtime. And we have quite many makan sessions and gatherings.

I think in the past 1 year, i put on abt 6 kgs... haha, scary right?

Some weeks ago we had a KH gathering. Those long-time-no-se aunties all observed that i am fatter now. Most said my face look better now - cos last time my face looked too sucken.

But thats besides the point lar. My hip and tights are so huge now that i no longer look good in jeans. Even my upper body and arms also become so "ba-ba" that i no longer dare to wear singlet or body clinching tops....

Si hui consoled me - said actually my current body shape still looks ok on stage - looks proportionate. But that is stage only lor. I want to look ok off-stage also.

Actually it never strike my mind to go on diet - despite some of my khakis kept calling me "pui soh"..... and tease me for being fat etc .... Honestly, i am not affected by the teases. In fact, i find the teases fun. Cos to me so long as i can still fit into the costumes, it doesnt matter lar.

My philo is I rather be a bit fat but healthy happy. Compared to slim but sick and deprived.

But thats only my own thinking lar. After yday de fish practice... now i dot want to diet also must diet liao ~ cos i need to stand on Zhi Qing and Yue Ai de thighs .... If i dot reduce a few kgs, i think they would be painful.

I just counted. I got 6 mths (up to Dec 07) to reduce weight. I mth 1 kg, i shd be able to reduce 6 kgs for the fish show...

Haha.... calling my khers, add oil for me k!

Fish Practice - Part 2

2d we practised scene 6 and scene 7 of the fish show..

We managed to confirm the tai wei for this scene 2d - i am quite happy - cos we can finally move on =)

*** Scene 7

Hm...... We only managed to cover some of the the heavenly soldiers parts 2d cos many of us cant fight or hold the sphere properly. But at least there are some progress.

Slight change to the cast though....

Initially yani is one of the heavenly soldiers... Then while practising, xz realised that Yani may not be able to take my weight ~ so yue ai would be the heavenly soldier now and yani would act the god of mersy instead....

Haaaa... there is a plus to be slim and pettie ^^

Hong said the sphere can only take up to 45kg.... Chaim. my initial plan is to reduce my current weight to 48kg. But now i got to reduce another 3 kgs....

Sad lor ... cos i dot like to diet - i like to eat.

But guess i got no choice cos Yue ai and Zhi Qing will "suffer" =(

I got to keepo myself fit from now. Cos very soon i wil have to practise the various actions liao.

Hope i can do those actions =)

Temple Dance Item

Today xz finally decided that i shall act the role of "Ma Gu" in the coming temple dance.

Cute MX .. she said she was very happy to hear that. She said cos i will get to dress up nicely and also get to learn the "da diao".

Initially mx and yani were not involved in the temple show... cos its a Fri and they are both in the afternoon class.

But some days ago, temple said that it may only be able to supply 1 clip-on mike for the lead dancer. And hence, leader pull in mx and yani to help sing the songs while we dance.

Can see that both mx and yani are very excited over the OS singing... Yani said da daio is her favoriate song.....

Wowo.... so envy. I hope one day i can say something like that ^^

Anyway, Yn - u shall teach me this song k! Though it is only a few lines, but u must teach me sing until i comfortable lor... i want the tw and yt version de.... hee.. .

Though this is only a 10 min dance, but we practised at least 6- 8 liao.... This is the second time in 6 years that i am involved in dance item. So is ah mei.

Just now mx commented that one look at the video - and we can tell who are dancers and who are not... haha.. true lor .. cos shu xia and ke min really stand very gracefully as compared with ah mei, ah ai and me =p

Looks like we need to practise more.

Next sunday there would be practising the dance item again. But i wont be able to attend. Cos i would be in HK then. But i will catch up when i am back ok - so wait for me!!

Fish Practice

Today we are supposed to pratcise fish full show.

Expected.... cant complete all the scenes.....

Honestly, I was a bit unhappy.

I usually do my homework before i go for practices - memorise script, recap the movements etc - be it lead roles or supporting roles.

If i dont have enough time for home work, i will try to use the in-between waiting time to recall the lines, songs and movements for the next scene.

But i realised some of us dot have the habit of doing home work.

Quite a few forget lines, forget tai wei and forget songs today. But yet during waiting time, i also dot see them practising....

This made practices so unsmooth.

Honestly, I am not those talented type when it comes to learning roles - so i need to do home work.

But may be some of my KHers are more gifted so they dot see an urgent need to do so.

Or may be some of us feel that supporting roles need not be too serious ba.

I wish i am can be more gifted.

Lazy weekend

Sat i thk i woke up at close to 1pm.. cos i slept at 5am after watching some k-drama(haha). Then i had my lunch and set off to office to prepare a last-mnute report .. this was emailed to me on Fri evening but need to be submitted on Monday morn (my office always got such last min stuff..)

Finished at 7plus so i took a taxi to kh to practise miles.....

Those who read mai dear's blog would know that i would be acting a bandit in this show..

Small bandits : jm, hm, yn and me

Hahaa.. mx said really "no face" to have us as her bandits... cos four of us are "ne kar peng" lor... But bo bian leh.. leader asked us to act de, not we volunteered one.....

Dot worry lar.... we will try our best. Leader said no need to have super "gong jia" - just act like gangster and walk big big.. can make the small bandits more "chou jue" type... rather than "xiong shen er sha"... so we will try our best k.. heee

Hee.. today my major "accomplishment" is that i took bus to kh! Si hui - quickly clap for me!

Reached around 1pm. Was so happy when i saw AC there =) Thot no Kakhi today lor.

We practised the dance item a bit with AC's newly composed music...music not bad.. but i thk need to add more drums and also slow down the "ca chu diao". Xz told us just now that the temple guy is coming to see our dance item soon - but we are have not even completed the 1st draft to the dance - and we dot even know who is dancing that "mua gor" role yet.

AC taught me some bandit gestures... Hahaa.. but i stil look girl la. Got to work harder cos now i got extra 1 min air time ......... bring food to Ms Teo to eat.... haha....

2d de main practice is dance and miles. While Hong and Yue ai practised theirs; Hui Mei and me practised our s4 and s6 fish... Ok lar.. bring back some memory... else next week may have a hard time. Me and yue ai also practised a bit of our portion of village girl.... Heng, can still remember.

Hope our coming various practices would be smooth... Actually its not easy to learn 5-6 scripts concurrrently.....

Applied leave from kh on next friday liao.. hehe.... and from 6th - 15th july. Looking forward to see mk and yh de fake doctor - plus my hk trip =)

M A C Electric eel

Hee... I was very happy just now - cos i finally managed to find the M A C Blue Electric eel.

This super-nice bright blue eye shadow was 1st used by Karen i think.. Then mx got one for herself too.

All this while, i just tab some from either mx or karen whenever i need to use. Then one day i accidentaly dropped mx's Electric eel on the floor.. Lucky it didnt break.. but it made me realised that i shd get one for myself else it would be very pai say if i really break their things.

So some weeks ago, i decided to get one myself... But to my surprise, the MAC girls at Tangs etc said this color has been phased out - cos the color is too loud for normal wearing.

Then just now when i passed by another MAC outlet at Robinson, i thot may be just go and ask..... To my pleasant surprise, the girl offered to help me check with other outlets if there are anymore stock in their storeroom.. And yes, there were 5 units left !

So i told her i take all 5!

HaHaha.... mad right?

New luggage! Business trip !

Hee.... bought a luggage today:

This is to replace my metal casing luggage which has given way last sept when i went to tw.

Sandra and me took almost 1 hour to select one luaggage each for ourselves..... She got a smaller black samsonitn ; while i got this medium red bag. Both of us happen to like samonitn more.... May be because it looks more sleek =)

There is a 20% store-wide sale at Robinson now. After discount, this medium red bag still cost above $200. Still a bit ex right?

Went to shop for luggage bag cos my colleagues and i are going to HK in 2 weeks times for system training and UAT. Going from 7th - 13th July (7 days).

The training + UAT is only 4 days. But we going there 3 days earlier to shop 1st. My colleagues are crazy about shopping... Hope i would not be influenced by them.. haha.

Actually i still have a green polo luggage bag at home. But my colleague said that is too big for our HK trip... She said people will laugh lor if i bring such a big bag.... Chey.... ok lor, i shall keep the big bag for Oct 's tw trip.

.. Hope my boss would ask me go to our NanShan office next time.

My boss went there last month.. .asked him to bring me along but he said cannot....asked me stay in office clear reports..... Haiz... of cos i prefer to go tw then hk lar... cos if i go tw, i can bring my hair to wash, buy things, meet up with friends etc lor =D

Cut Hair

I finally trimmed my messy hair today.

For the past 1 year, i have been cutting my hair at my downstair HDB salon ~ lazy to go too far.

Today i decided to leave office early to trim my hair, do some color and do a scalp treatment at Jean Yip. I have not been to there for > 1 year liao. Used to be a regular at the Pasir Ris White Sand outlet.

I must say that their service is still as good (haha, better than my house HDB Salon)... They really explained to you each of the item they apply to your hair and they handle your hair with care.

But i think their services are getting a bit ex ..... Just hair + scalp treatment alone is $188 unless u take up a package which equate to $107 per time ($1288 / 12 times). Still got cut and color..... easily add up to > $250 per cut lor...

Haha.... sounds so calculative....

May be last time i dont have committment, so i dont feel pinch when i spend money. But now a days cannot liao... I have been talking abt cutting taxi fares for years... but as of now.. i am still 80% taxi.....

Haiz... very xian leh

Who can teach me how to take public transport ah?

(1) from pasir ris to kh .. within 1 hr?
(2) from bedok reserviour / upper bukit timah to pasir ris?

With such tight practising schedules (4 times a week), i think i wil go broke if every trip is by taxi, haha......

At least must save the taxi $ >>>>>>> to buy hairpieces right? Hee......

As usual lar.... for any party, we will surely bring our dearest babies! Bobo, yaya, ah zai and piglet.. Oh ya, forgot to annouce, Mr Yaya is now engaged to my piglet lor... So me and si hui are "qing jia" now... hahaha

Some of us had a good laugh over the bandit roles yday and 2d.

In the coming miles shows, hui mei, jm, yn and me would be acting small bandit - our bandit heads are mx and xu wen .. heeee

Initially YN and me were super excited to act the bandits.. cos we plan to dress like pirates - single-eye pirate with scars on faces .....

But just now when i see the show time of the small bandits.. i began to have second thots.. cos the efforts to dress up may not justify that 1 min appearances leh.....

But see how lar.. may be we will stil try..... just for the fun of it.....

Besides, our dear Yn better do as ugly as possible... so as to clear the "air".....

I think many shd have rec'd the time table.

Anyone not shocked by the packed schedules?

When i 1st saw it .. i was like... sure??? everyday practise???

Haha..... Look at this eg....

6/25 mon - soya
6/26 tue - fish
6/27 wed - temple
6/28 thus - fish
6/29 fri - fish
6/30 sat - fish
6/31 sun - fish

This means that i have to go kh 6 times in this quoted week lor...

Wow...

This doesnt just happen to fish show.. all other shows are also fully scheduled in this manner.. 3-4 times a week at least....

Haha.. I am VVVV sure that i cant make it to all the slots cos i got some "compulsory OT" to do every mth... But i will try to attend at least 75% attendance lar.

Dumpling Festival and Practices (17 June 2007)

We were scheduled to rehearse 3 shows today :

- Lee Lian Sheng sell provisions;

- Lv Dong Bin ; and

- Soyabean and dumpling sellers

So coincident... When i reached Kh, i saw bundles of dumplings on the table... Dear JM had made some for us to eat =)

Actually before coming to kh, i already had a very yummy dumpling, but when i saw the "full-of gao lark" dumpling by JM, i still couldnt resist eating.....

Huay and Yue ai knew that i like to eat gao lark... so they digged out all their gao larks and passed to me... so although i only ate 1 dumpling, i think i had 7-8 gao-larks.. heee

My mummy is not very well this year, so we skipped making dumpling this year.

Hopefully i can make some dumpling next year.... I like my own dumpling..haha... cos i always stuffed them with lots of gao larks, salted eggs, garlic, mushrooms, hey bee and lots of wu xiang powder..... very nice lor.. i like !!

Oki... enough of food.. back to practices....

1) Lee Lian Sheng

Today's focus was on ah huay and jm ; and the 4 maids....

Xz changed some tai wei for the 4 maids, and the effect is quite nice... Hong Dan is going to act one of the 4 maids.. She has passed her movements and is now learning the lines and songs...

Karen didnt come.. so i got to stand in for Li Lian Sheng ... heee

2) Lv Dong Bin

Hong had something on . so i didnt get to practise my parts with her. But i managed to do a quick run thru with my new daddy - Zhen ni ! Obviously xz has more confi in Zhen Ni de actions, so added quite many movements hor...

We had some fun time selecting the beard for Zhen Ni...haha

3) Soyabean and dumpling

Mx and Yn would be leading this show in Sept.

The last time Mx did this role was > 10 years ago i think. and YN also last done this show > 7 years ago. But despite that hor.. mx was able to recall most of the tai wei... while our dear Yn on the other hand was quite blur 2d.. (opps)

Haha..no lar no lar ... may be YN is slightly disadvantage cos she wasnt around when wmy and me did the same shows some years ago. But i believe Yn will catch back all the memory very soon lar... cant stand her lor... super-fast learner and sing well also!

I like this show: its very light-hearted.

Last Fri some of us went to Xuan's muscial to relax - cos its a friday night =)

mx, ml, xiao ma, ai lian, wmy, sh and me.

Ah bao, ymy and karen cannot be counted - cos they are the super-regular cum "share-holders" there (lol).... !

No picture to show.. cos my hp cam is lousy.. and i didnt bring my cam...

Mx said i am the most busy hua dan cos i could only reach at 10 plus... Haha... ab rang a few times saying that 100 people waiting for me.... haha......

Must clarify a bit lar.. its not that i big card or what .. I needed to work some OT.. and got dinner appointment liao.. so can only go after that lor...

Actually wmy and sh more big card loh.. they came later than me ... (opps...they are going to kill me liao...) no lar no lar.. cos wmy was stuck with some office work.

Not sure how u all find the place.. but personally i quite like the place.

- very cosy; and
- price is reasonable too (if dont drink wine..haha)
Fruit punch is very cheap - $15 for 2 drinks. Beer also cheap $25 per jar... and got live band (thou a bit noisy..opps) ....

The live band reminded me of those good old days where xm, ab, yh, wmy and me played some songs together.... Haha..... show 1 picture.....

... Back to Xuan's musical.. guess the most important thing is = this place is opened by Zhuang Hui Xuan. And the cashier, mixer, waiters are all our friends ~ so very comfortable lor i guess =)

That day SH emailed to ask if i am keen to buy - cos her company is having a big promotion on all SK 2 products - from 30% on skin essence to 83 % discount on pearl finishing powder.

Knowing that one of my colleagues uses lots of SK 2 - i forwarded the order form to her... and to my horror, her order adds up to > $2000 dollars!!

Actually there is a limit to each product.. But SH was so kind to ask her colleagues to help squeeze in the order ~ so my friend got all the items she ordered!

Tml is going to be a hetic dat for some of us.

We would be having a big group meeting at 1130am. and after that we will proceed to Taman Jurong CC to prepare our shows for the night.

We would be staging 2 dance items, Lu dong bin and Rain.

I am a bit scare of Lu dong bin. May be becos there werent many practices for this show.
But i will try my best not to panic lar. I will try to talk slower and sing louder tml la.
How i wish i got the big volume like karen, mx and hong leh.... My voice is always so soft and so weak :(

Tml i am going to wear my own cst for bai mudan... Haha... Forgot to try ~ dot know can still fit in or not. The cst was made to fit my size when i was 47 kg.. Haha........... will be very ugly tml if i can't fit into the costume.

Watched my last week de rain. I didnt sing well again. and my movements were very choppy. Leader also said i spoke like machine gun, dot look like qing yi... . haha.... So got to slow down tml and act more stably....

Our next show shd be in Oct...... Not bad, can rest for abt 4 mths. Hope i can make some improvements in these 4 mths :)

2d we acted rain at Fajar - this is a Arts kick-off program organised by NWCDC.

Actually the organiser only wanted a 1 hr program. But we gave them our 1.5 hr rain - cos mx is out of town. The initial plan was Lu Dong Bin and Lee Lian Sheng.

Besides us, there were also fire-eaters, clowns and stilt-walkers etc. Overall the event was quite sucessful.. except that it was very very very HOT ~ guess this is the down side of outdoor show.

Hmmmmm... today is public holiday ... but i had got an assignment lor -

Go KH to help gather some photos for our coming book.

Met mx online at 11plus this morning and she teased me for "so good life - can go kh".... Haha

Anyway, reached kh abt 1pm ~ only hong and huay were there.

So three of us took out all the albums from the cupboard and pulled out those pictures that we felt might be relevant for the book. Mei came abt 3plus but we were almost done.

Saw many cute pictures.... But wasted, i didnt bring my camera else i could have taken pictures to show you all.....

But let me just recall a bit k...

Saw 1 picture of mx in a green tw style cst... hong said that was a borrowed costume... they borrowed the costume for mx and hong de 巫山一段云 !!!! Wow.. so good lor, can act GZX last time :)

Also saw some teenage pictures of karen, mx, zhen ni, ah mei etc .... Very cute and studently look lor!~

Saw some pictures of me, YH, YP, yang li ming, wmy and xue ling. Those were the days.. 6 of us joined kh around the same time.. but now only left with wmy and me.

Also saw many old performance pictures... i dot know how to describe our make up and hairpieces ~ not very nice... very red and messy i think.....

Also saw the no-aircon conidtion of KH Hall .... We are really more lucky now...

Really very wasted that i couldnt take pictures.... Next time lar........
